(A) Categories of Applicants Eligible to Apply:
- Fresh Law Graduates who have passed the final LLB Examination in the first attempt with minimum of 55% marks.
- Candidates possessing a Post Graduate Degree in Law.
(B) The High Court may give preference to candidates holding a Post Graduate Degree in Law.
(C) Candidates must have basic knowledge in the use of Computers/Laptop and softwares relating to case laws.
(D) Age: The candidates must not be less than 21 years of age or more than 30 years of age, on the date of his recommendation by the Principal of the concerned Law College, or by the respective Presidents of the Bar Associations.

For Bench at Nagpur: The President, High Court Bar Association, Nagpur. For Bench at Aurangabad: The President, High Court Bar Association, Aurangabad. For Bench at Panaji-Goa: The President, High Court Bar Association, Panaji-Goa.

Bombay High Court Recruitment 2023 Selection Process
The selection process for the Law Clerk position will involve the following steps:
- Applications will be invited through a public notice on the High Court website and other appropriate channels as determined by the Selection Committee.

Law Clerks will be assigned to assist Hon’ble Judges of the High Court in various legal works. Bombay High Court Recruitment 2023 Honorarium of Law Clerks
a) Law Clerks shall receive a consolidated amount of Rs. 40,000 per month as Stipend/Honorarium for their assignment. This amount may be revised by the Government from time to time.
b) Law Clerks shall not be entitled to any other allowances and shall not be considered or treated as regular employees of the High Court.
The term of assignment and de-assignment of Law Clerks is as follows:
a) Law Clerks will be appointed on a contractual basis for a period of one year. However, they may be discharged before completion of one year if recommended by the Hon’ble Judge, without assigning any reason.
b) The term of assignment may be extended by a further period of one year if recommended by the Hon’ble Judge, subject to the approval of the Hon’ble Chief Justice.
c) Either side may terminate the appointment by giving one month’s notice or one month’s salary in lieu thereof. This requirement may be waived by the other side.
d) The Hon’ble Chief Justice may terminate the appointment of Law Clerk at any time without notice or compensation if their services are found to be unsatisfactory or if they violate any of these Rules.
Bombay High Court Recruitment 2023 Bar to Practice as an Advocate
a) Law Clerks are not allowed to practice as Advocates in any Court of Law or Tribunal while working as a Law Clerk. It is mandatory for them to inform the concerned Bar Council in writing that they will not practice as an Advocate during the assignment as a Law Clerk. b) After the completion of their assignment, Law Clerks are prohibited from practicing before the Hon’ble Judge they were attached to, for a period of one year. c) If the Law Clerk had worked on a case, they are not entitled to appear in that case handled by the Hon’ble Judge to whom they were attached. |a) Law Clerk shall maintain a high standard of reputation and integrity during the period of assignment, commensurate with the responsibilities entrusted to him. He shall maintain utmost secrecy in respect of matters which come to his notice by virtue of such assignment.
|b) Law Clerk shall maintain complete secrecy regarding the work assigned to him by the Hon’ble Judge during the period of assignment and at all times.
|c) Law Clerk shall abide by any other Rules and conditions of service prescribed by the Hon’ble Chief Justice.
|d) Upon acceptance of appointment, Law Clerk shall undertake in writing to abide by these Rules, perform his duties with due diligence and discipline, and maintain confidentiality about all matters and information he may come across during the discharge of his duties.
